Jill Stuart was born into the world of fashion as her parents owned a well known sportswear company in the 1960’s and ‘70’s dressing many top celebrities including Lucille Ball, Natalie Wood and Sheila Macrae.
Dinners were filled with industry talk of collections, fabric design and advertising campaigns. She sold her first collection of silver and leather chokers and suede fringed hobos to Bloomingdales at 15 while still attending Manhattan’s Dalton School. Jill later attended the Rhode Island School of Design.
The Jill Stuart Collection began in 1993 with accessories and innovations such as the fashion backpack, cocktail mini dresses and plaid kilt skirts. The film “Clueless” featured many of the designs from her first sportswear collection fueling her notoriety and international appeal.
The homes of Jill Stuart have been featured in the 20th anniversary issue of Elle Décor, Hamptons Magazine, Vogue Living, InStyle, Teen Vogue and many other international publications.
Today over 500 international Jill Stuart freestanding stores and in-shops have established the designer as a best-selling commodity in fashion with product lines ranging from numerous ready to wear collections, cosmetics, beauty, fragrance, timepieces and jewelry and newly opened JILL STUART cafes.
The photographers who have shot the JILL STUART image include Patrick Demarchelier, Ellen von Unwerth, Kelly Klein, Satoshi and Mario Sorrenti. The models selected by JILL STUART have also launched the careers of industry superstars Tasha Tilberg, Lindsey Wixson, Jaime Rishar, Trish Goff and Gemma Ward, among many others.
Celebrities including Angelina Jolie, Madonna, Jennifer Aniston, Anne Hathaway, Rihanna, Scarlett Johansson, Kristen Stewart, Megan Fox, Rachel Bilson, Lindsay Lohan, Kate Bosworth and Paris Hilton can also be counted as devotees of JILL STUART design.
