Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week David Delfin Spring Summer 2011
David Delfin brought the most futuristic collections to the runway in the Lincoln Center that made me think of the 1997 movie Gattaca more than once.
Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week Anna Sui Spring Summer 2011
For me, the highlight of September the 15th from the Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week was the S/S 2011 collection, modeled for designer Anna Sui.
Set against a backdrop of an image of a field with a house way off in the distance, Anna Sui’s collection made me think of words like gypsy, bohemian & just plain delicious.
The casting for this show was completely perfect, the models looked like they were the target market for the designs and everything from the shoes, boots and hair all matched perfectly.
This collection is definitely in my top 3 of the entire week.

Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week Zang Toi Spring Summer 2011
Zang Toi‘s collection is in my opinion, a wonderfully delicious example of creativity and elegance. The combination of the cowboy theme with designs (and hair styles)
that make me think of movies I saw as a kid that were set in “The South” made this a wonderful show to watch and very enjoyable to photograph. It’s hard to pick an absolute favorite when we photographed so many smashing collections, but I think it would be a completely fair statement to say this is a collection I won’t forget :)

Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week Milly by Michelle Smith Spring Summer 2011
Milly by Michelle Smith was the second largest collection I photographed on the runway during New York Fashion Week 2010.
What I didn’t realize at the time of photographing this collection was the inspiring story behind this designer, the pursuit of her dreams and her journey to being the success she is today.
Michelle worked at a Hermès boutique in Manhattan while she studied at the Fashion Institute of Technology and after graduating, sought after and secured an internship at the Hermès headquarters in Paris. During her time in paris, Michelle secured 3 more internships at major iconic brands while furthering her studies at the ESMOD design school.
Here is a selection of my captures from her S/S 2011 collection revealed at the Lincoln Center during the 2010 fashion Week.
Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week Gottex Swimwear Spring Summer 2011
One line that certainly got the attention of the attendees because of their bright colors and their designs was Gottex. On display was their S/S 2011 collection of swimwear.
If the opinions offered by the contingent of international photographers surrounding me on the media riser were any indication of how the market will react, Gottex can be certain of their success for this collection.
Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week General Idea Spring Summer 2011
General Idea was the first menswear collection I photographed during Fashion Week and some of their models included Issac Crew, Ethan James and Christian Brylle of Ford Models
Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week Nanette Lepore Spring Summer 2011
While waiting to photograph the Nanette Lepore Spring/Summer 2011 collection, I was quite surprised to see a band setting up right where the models normally exit the runway to the backstage area .
Not only was it unusual in my experience to see a live performance providing the musical backdrop for the models to walk to, but it also provided the models with only one exit from and entry to the runway.
Logistics out of the way, Grammy-nominated singer, songwriter John Forte, best known for his work with The Fugees provided smooth beats and an extra air of excitement to the show.
Nanette also included a touching tribute to her mum who passed away a few weeks before the start of Fashion Week with photograph and a dedication, “Mom, you will forever inspire me.”
